The Advanced Photon Source (APS) at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) provides brilliant X-ray beams for research in almost all scientific disciplines. The APS recently underwent a $815M upgrade and is now the brightest hard X-ray synchrotron source in the world. The upgraded APS increased its brilliance and coherence by more than two orders of magnitude, making the APS one of the most powerful research facilities in the world. The project scope included 9 feature beamlines designed to fully exploit the dramatic increases in source brightness.
With the International Workshop on Phase Retrieval and Coherent Scattering being held somewhat near the APS, we are providing a unique opportunity for meeting attendees to tour the newly upgraded facility and its new beamlines.
Attendees must complete the necessary Argonne National Laboratory guest registration to participate in the tour (more details will be provided to those who wish to participate). A bag lunch for the bus ride to the APS and a pizza dinner at the APS will be provided for participants and beamline tour guides. Since there is not enough time to visit all beamlines, we will attempt to group participants by their expressed preferences (more information forthcoming to those who wish to participate).
