The host institution, University of Wisconsin\u2013Madison, is home to the highly-regarded Microbiology Doctoral Training Program, houses over one hundred microbiology laboratories, and is an American Society for Microbiology Milestones in Microbiology site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nMMPC is an annual conference highlighting research on microbe-host\ninteractions, microbial communities, and host responses to microbial\ninfections. The conference is designed to provide significant interactions\namong attendees ranging from trainees to senior faculty. The program features\ntalks by recently-hired junior faculty from the region as well as trainee\npresentations selected from submitted abstracts. There will be poster sessions\nto facilitate substantial interactions among attendees. Finally, we are pleased\nto welcome Dr. Victor Torres, the C.V. Starr Professor of Microbiology from New\nYork University Grossman School of Medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MMPC\nseeks to improve the representation of women and historically marginalized\npopulations in the field of microbial pathogenesis. We are working to keep\ncosts low to make the conference widely accessible (to entire labs, in many\ncases). We encourage all interested scientists (and especially trainees) to\nregister for the conference and present their work.
