Remote Participation
The Biennial Conference on Chemical Education (BCCE) 2026 is designed to support meaningful participation for attendees who are unable to travel to Madison. Remote participation is a fully integrated component of the conference and offers multiple ways to engage with the program, connect with colleagues, and contribute to the chemistry education community.
Remote options are intended to support global access, time-zone flexibility, and sustained engagement, both during and after the conference.
What remote participation includes
Remote participants at BCCE 2026 will have access to:
- Live-streamed in-person sessions, including symposia and community conversations
- Global remote symposia, organized across time zones and designed specifically for online participation
- Hybrid poster sessions that bring together in-person and remote participants through shared digital posters, short recorded poster videos, and scheduled poster discussions
- On-demand access to recorded sessions, enabling engagement with both in-person and remote presentations across time zones
- Virtual spaces for interaction, including chat, Q&A, and discussion features within the conference platform
Remote participation is designed to support both real-time interaction and asynchronous engagement, allowing participants to tailor their experience based on availability and interests.
Presenting Remotely
Remote participation at BCCE 2026 includes opportunities to present and facilitate sessions, not just attend.
Oral Presentations
Contributors may present oral presentations remotely through remote symposia, which include both Talks and Distillations. They are designed to foster focused discussion and exchange among participants. These symposia are organized by time zone regions and around shared Conference Contexts.
Poster Presentations
All accepted poster presenters participate in the hybrid poster session, which includes a digital poster, a short recorded video, and a space to engage in asynchronous dialogue with other attendees. The hybrid poster session will be available during the entire duration of the conference as well as for a few weeks following.

Engagement Across Time Zones
BCCE 2026 is committed to supporting participation from attendees around the world. To that end:
- Recorded sessions will be available for on-demand viewing
- Hybrid poster materials will remain accessible beyond scheduled poster times
- Global remote symposia are designed to balance live interaction with asynchronous participation
While some live sessions will occur at times most convenient for North American audiences, the combination of live and recorded content is intended to support equitable access across time zones.
Technology and Access
Remote participation will take place predominately through the BCCE 2026 Virtual Site, which serves as the hub for:
- on-demand recordings
- digital posters and videos
- global remote symposium session links and schedules
- discussion and engagement tools
Details about platform access, technical requirements, and navigation guidance will be shared closer to the conference.
Registration and Expectations
Remote participants must register for BCCE 2026. Registration options and fees are available here.
Remote presenters are expected to:
- adhere to abstract and presentation guidelines for their session type
- submit required materials (e.g., recordings, posters) by posted deadlines
- engage respectfully with participants during live or asynchronous discussions
As with all presenters, BCCE cannot provide registration fee waivers or discounts for presenters.
Why Attend Remotely?
Remote participation at BCCE 2026 offers:
- access to a broad cross-section of the chemistry education community
- opportunities to share work and engage in dialogue without travel
- flexibility to engage live, asynchronously, or both
- continued access to conference materials after the meeting
For many participants, remote attendance is not a substitute for in-person participation. It is the most effective and sustainable way to engage.
