Soy 2025: 19th Biennial Conference on Molecular & Cellular Biology of the Soybean

We look forward to seeing you on the shores of Lake Mendota for Soy2025: the 19th Biennial Molecular & Cellular Biology of the Soybean conference.  21st century soybean research is generating new findings at a rapid pace, new experimental methodologies are being exploited by public and private sector researchers, and the importance of soybean for global food supplies and farmer income ensure a high level of interest.

Note that conference registration rates (not yet finalized) will be quite low, especially for students and postdoctoral scientists, and campus dormitory rooms will not only be available but are the closest accommodations to the meeting site. The 2025 meeting will include many oral talks by discipline-leading speakers, but will also emphasize poster presentations and presenters at two extended poster sessions. This will include a spotlighted Wednesday evening (first-day) poster session with food and beverages, so that attendees can know each other right at the beginning of the conference. For each oral session one early-career speaker will be chosen from the poster submissions.

This meeting will be held at the University of Wisconsin–Madison Memorial Union, a very popular conference site. We have booked a large auditorium with comfortable seating for the oral sessions, with coffee breaks at the foyer and deck located directly on Lake Mendota. Group lunches and two evening meals (all included in meeting registration) will be served at Memorial Union.  The Union is a two minute walk from State Street, the charismatic mile-long commercial district between the university and the state capitol.

Tourism

The meeting will start Wednesday late-afternoon.  Arrive a day early or stay longer on Saturday and tour the state capitol, one of the most beautiful capitol buildings in the nation. You can also rent kayaks for casual paddling on any of the four Madison lakes, rent e-bicycles at many street-side self-serve stations, go for a beautiful campus walk on Bascom Hill or along the lake to Picnic Point and the campus lakeshore preserve, or enjoy shopping, food and beverages on State Street and the Capitol Square.

Lodging opportunities will include hotel options that are a 5-12 minute walk from State Street area to the Union, and affordable campus dormitory rooms (breakfast included) just 3-8 minutes from the Memorial Union conference site.

Note also: The international Plant Biology 2025 conference run by ASPB (American Society of Plant Biologists) will be held 2 hours away in Milwaukee, WI, starting the day after Soy2025 on Saturday, July 26.  Buses from Madison to Milwaukee are available.
