Respiratory Virus Guidance

The conference planning committee is committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment in which to learn. The COVID-19 is frequently changing, and there are many other types of respiratory viruses, including flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). At the time of writing, variants KP.2 and KP.3, both descendent lineages of JN.1 and other variants under monitoring (VUMs) continue to show increasing prevalence globally.

Please consider the following notes regarding general health practices:

  • We encourage frequent handwashing and sanitizing throughout the conference.
  • Please stay at your residence if you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms or are feeling ill or unwell.
  • While masks are not mandated, we encourage and support those who do wish to mask.
  • We encourage attendees who wish to physically distance themselves to do so. The upstairs balcony is available to those who wish to physically distance themselves. Additionally, all breaks and meals have easy access to outdoor space.

Reproductive Health

The recent Dobbs decision by the Supreme Court has impacted specific reproductive health procedures in the state of Wisconsin due to a pre-existing 1849 law that is currently under review and additional litigation. Up-to-date information can be found through the resources listed below. This is currently not impacting medications such as Plan B, nor miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy care. In addition, abortion remains legal in the neighboring states of Minnesota and Illinois, which are within a 1-3 hr drive from Madison.  https://www.uhs.wisc.edu/gynecology/pregnancy-resources/
