The Annual Conference student photo contest is run by the Student Activities Committee (SAC) in cooperation with the local conference Committee. All proceeds from entry fees go to the SAC.
Any conference registrant can participate in the photo contest.
A maximum of 3 photos per individual can be submitted. Photos can be submitted to either one or both categories.
Register for the photo contest and pay your entry fee and turn in your photos when you arrive at the meeting.

The photos will be set up in the display area on Monday afternoon and will remain on display until Tuesday at noon. Photos to be included in the silent auction will be transferred to the auction location, those not going to the silent auction will need to be collected by their owners.
The contest will be judged by a small group of WDA members. There is also a “popular vote” by conference attendees. Judges will base their decisions on image clarity, color, lighting, contrast, composition and “wow factor.”
Winners will be announced during the Conference at the annual banquet on Thursday evening. If the winner is not present at the banquet, he or she will be contacted via email (or phone) after the conference.
A range of prizes will be offered, 1st place for each category and the people’s choice photo will receive a pair of Vortex Crossfire® HD 10×42.
You can pick up your photos after the judging or offer to include your photos in the silent auction. Proceeds from photos auctioned off will benefit the SAC.
LOGISTICS AND FORMATTING
There are three (3) categories: 1) Wildlife – free ranging, 2) Wildlife – captive or at the urban interface and 3) Landscapes/Flora.
All photos should be 8″ x 10″ in size (approximately 20 cm x 25 cm).
Entries must be mounted on a stiff 11″ x 14″ backing, such as cardboard, (approximately 28cm x 35.5cm). No framed printed will be accepted.
The following information should be written on a 3×5 paper or card affixed to the back of your photo:
- Your full name and contact information (address, email and phone number)
- The category in which your photo is to be judged
- A consise description of the photo (where the image was taken, etc)
- Whether you are willing to have the photo included in the silent auction
**Entrants must have taken the photo(s) and have all rights to its distribution and use.**
