ACZM Workshop

American College of Zoological Medicine Introductory Workshop

In conjunction with:

2022 International Wildlife Disease Association Conference

Madison, WI, USA

The American College of Zoological Medicine’s Education Committee and Ad Hoc Wildlife Committee will sponsor an introductory workshop at the 70th International Wildlife Disease Association Conference in Madison, WI. This workshop is for veterinarians who may be interested in pursuing board certification in zoological medicine. Free-living wildlife population health is one of the areas of emphasis within ACZM and the workshop will focus on, and feature speakers from, this area. Information on ACZM, the training required to qualify for the examination, examination preparation and format, how to study and how to analyze articles for potential examination questions content will be included. Recognizing that there may be a number of misconceptions and/or some apprehension, there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion. This is a full day workshop with refreshment breaks and lunch included, and is approved for 6 CE credits.

The ACZM Introductory Workshop will held the Sunday before the WDA Conference: Sunday, July 24 (8am-5pm)

What information will be discussed?

A brief introduction to the history and mission of the ACZM, the credentialing process, and an overview of the examination itself will be discussed. Study and test-taking strategies will also be reviewed.

Several review topics will be presented, allowing for discussion time with ACZM-board certified Diplomates. All lectures will be reviews of a topic pertinent to zoological medicine, including the most up-to-date published information within the last five years. Lunch will be provided in addition to coffee breaks, to allow opportunity for networking and sharing experiences/personal study strategies. The final session will provide a mock examination, information on study strategies, and end with a Q and A session.

A detailed schedule can be found at the end of this announcement.
